Genius Hour, personalized learning that empowers each student to learn through their passions. Explore how Genius Hour pedagogy can transform a learners mindset and inspire them to greater depths of knowledge. In this session, you will learn how engaging teaching strategies can connect students passions and curriculum in harmony.
Purpose & objective
Personalizing learning through Genius Hour for each student empowers learners to take ownership in their learning. By creating Genius Hour opportunities for students in classrooms teachers model lifelong learning and student centered approaches to teaching; both of which demonstrates growth in professional practice. My purpose is to redefine teaching practices using relevant, rigorous, and rich learning experiences for students that intrinsically motivate them. Genius Hour is strongly supported with standards alignment, continuous feedback, and is scaffolding students to be real world ready consumers of information.
(5 minutes) 2. Presenter will create a backchannel for Processing learning, reflecting and leveraging audience engagement and voice.
(10 minutes) 1. Presenter will set the stage for learning with a Priming activity of why we should discuss student centered learning and specific teaching strategies build personalized learning into the core foundation of students voice and choice in the classroom.
