Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

A TeachMeet is a model of teacher-driven professional learning that harnesses the dynamic energy that naturally comes in a gathering of passionate teachers. The session is designed to have a teacher as the host, the presenters are drawn from the participants, they create short and sharp presentations and a clear focus on the professional dialogue of a given topic.

Teachers walk away from a TeachMeet with a new idea they can apply immediately, a new colleague to share and grow ideas with, a buzz of inspiration, or all three! They can be run in a school classroom, a library, a pub, in Australia they even had one in a zoo! They are free for participants, free from corporate interests, and not answerable to any kind of authority other than the other members of the TeachMeet community. TeachMeet ISTE will model several kinds of TeachMeets including quick-fire presentations, rapid networking and idea-centric discussions over the course of a day.
