People's Choice winner. Learning is exciting when students have agency and the content is relevant to them. Choice in the learning path and leveraging how students learn in informal learning environments truly puts the student at the center of the learning. This session will explore practical approaches to supporting student-driven learning.

Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

Participants will hear from students, parents, and educators that have been actively involved in creating and participating in learning environments that value student interest and authentic learning.

The session will provide practical examples of what student driven learning looks like and how it can be supported / implemented.

Participants will walk away with an understanding of how interest driven learning and the co-learning process can transform teaching and learning.

Potential challenges will be addressed. Examples of choice based learning environments that honor student voice will be showcased.

Published student work will be shared to provide exemplars as indicators of success.


Introductions: Panelists will introduce themselves and provide brief presentation / overview of their role in terms of student driven learning.
