Learn how to use tools such as Educreations, Flipgrid and Screencastify to strengthen critical thinking skills while fostering metacognition. See how discourse increases when students use digital recording tools to demonstrate and reflect on learning. Get lesson ideas in all subject areas, resources on how to use each tool and student examples.

Purpose & objective

Purpose:
The purpose of this session is to demonstrate how three free digital tools can promote and enhance metacognition in students. Flipgrid, Screencastify, and Educreations allow students to explain their thinking, increase meaningful discourse, encourage reflection, and strengthen critical thinking skills. Educators will receive lesson ideas in all subject areas, directions and resources on how to use each tool, and multiple student examples.

Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will know…
---How to use the following 3 digital tools; Flipgrid, Screencastify, and Educreations to foster critical thinking skills
---The basics on how to download videos created from the 3 digital tools
---How to create activities for all subjects to facilitate an engaging environment
---How to create an activity using Flipgrid
---How to record a video using Screencastify
---How to make videos on Educreations
