Sketchnoting is an engaging and effective way for students to capture ideas and demonstrate learning in a creative way. Come learn how to introduce sketchnoting to your students and walk away with practical strategies that you can implement tomorrow. No artistic ability is needed!

Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this poster session is to provide participants with an understanding of how sketchnoting can encourage students to be creative communicators. Participants will walk away with resources and ideas so they can begin encouraging visual notetaking with their students. Educators will have an opportunity to experience the power of sketchnoting for themselves to allow them to witness the impact it has on learning and synthesizing of new content.

Participants will understand the following components of sketchnoting and be able to answer these questions:

1. Understand the neuroscience behind sketchnoting-Why is sketchnoting valuable?
2. Experience sketchnoting to see the benefits firsthand.-How does creative expression with sketchnoting help me process information?
3.Gain resources and ideas.-What does this look like at specific grade levels and content areas?
4. Select the best tools for sketchnoting. Which apps or sites are best for my students to engage in sketchnoting?
