Learn how CoSpaces Edu, a web and mobile app VR creation tool, makes creating VR easy for students. Learn about its assignment management system, its extensive 3D object library and building tools, its built-in block-based coding language, and how to share and access projects for immersive VR experiences.

Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

Participants will learn how to set up a new CoSpaces Edu teacher account, how to create classes and onboard students, and create and manage project assignments for students.


Participants will learn how to effectively introduce CoSpaces Edu as a new creation tool in the classroom and will gain teaching strategies that will break down the fears and barriers of trying something new.


Participants will learn how to create a 3 dimensional (3D) scene in CoSpaces Edu using a variety of 3D models and objects.


Participants will learn how to utilize CoSpaces Edu across grade levels and subject areas and how students can create elaborate and complex projects through the use of multiple scenes.


Participants will learn how students can collaborate on CoSpaces Edu projects together to enhance the learning and creation process.


Participants will learn how they and their students can use another tool, TinkerCad, to create their own 3D objects and then import them into CoSpaces Edu.


Participants will learn how CoBlocks, a built in block-based visual coding language, can add animation, movement, and interaction within a CoSpaces Edu scene and expose students to coding.


Participants will explore their own scenes and other student examples with the use of VR headsets and their own devices.

Outline

10 minutes: Presenter introduction and workshop agenda


20 minutes: Introduction to CoSpaces Edu, teaching strategies on how to introduce this as a new tool to students, and setting up a new teacher account


15 minutes: Exploring the CoSpaces Edu gallery full of example projects from different subject areas. Participants will be able to use a VR headset, Oculus Go, or their own device to experience a finished project using different devices.


15 minutes: Learning how to create, setup, and on board students into the classroom management tool and how to create, assign, and manage a project assignment for students.


30 minutes: A walkthrough of how to create a CoSpaces Edu scene using different environments, the 3D object library, the upload tool for images, 3D models, and sounds, and how to move and manipulate objects to create a 3D scene.


30 minutes: Participants will have work time to build a 3D scene of their own while practicing how to use the different tools and features in CoSpaces Edu.


15 minutes: Learn how to use TinkerCad.com to create a simple 3D object of their own using a drag and drop tool. Then they will learn how to import their own 3D object into CoSpaces Edu to use in their scene.


15 minutes: Learn how to use the built-in CoBlock coding language to incorporate animation, movement, and interaction within their 3D scene and between 3D objects and the audience.


30 minutes: Information to be shared regarding other resources available to help teachers get started, as well as a variety of lesson plans and project ideas that have been used and created by the presenter. And a Q&A to wrap things up.
