Discover how to create micro credentials and badges for your specific learning environment. Learn how to set badge learning objectives, design badges and explore educational badging platforms. Leave with your own digital badges to share with students.

Purpose & objective

During this hands-on BYOD session, attendees will create a digital badge. This process includes determining the learning outcomes that will demonstrate mastery of a micro-credential, designing the graphics for a digital badge, and culminate with an exploration of some educational badging platforms.
Participants will experience the possibilities of badging, as a student. Then they will be guided through the process of setting up a digital badge for their own classrooms.
10 mins: Introduction and opening questions from the audience.
10 mins: Demonstration of use of educational badging platforms, such as Alludo and EduBadger.
20 mins: Participants create learning objectives for a micro-credential/digital badge.
15 mins: Participants create the graphics for a digital badge.
25 mins: Participants set up a badging platform and add learning objectives and digital badge for use in their classrooms.
10 mins: Final questions and sharing of online resources.

Education and business are looking for additional displays of student skills, beyond the traditional school transcript and resume. Micro-credentials provide students with the ability to learn and demonstrate mastery of discrete skills. Badging is becoming a popular method for displaying skill mastery.
