Learn how easy it is to author and publish epub digital books on your laptop or iPad. See how to integrate this project into all subject areas, see student examples, and get tips and best practices.

Participant accounts, software and other materials: Participants should bring a charged iPad or Mac with the latest version of Pages installed, OR a PC/Chromebook with a Book Creator account and internet access. Please make sure your device, especially if it is owned by a school district, allows full access to camera and microphones as you will be using both for the session.

Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

Participants will learn how to use Pages or BookCreator app to author and publish digital books, and how to use these projects in classrooms of all grade levels and subject areas. Through a variety of direct instruction, and hands-on exercises, participants will become familiar with the tools and learn tips on how to use these tools with their students. They will walk away from the session having completed several pages of an original ebook and have sample lessons and ideas for integrating similar projects in their own classroom.

Michael Hernandez is an award-winning educator, author, and consultant in Los Angeles whose work focuses on media literacy, digital storytelling and social justice.
