Program

Experience two days of immersive learning that will take you on a journey through the creative process. Learn how to bring this innovative thinking straight from the event to your classroom. Engage in experiential learning opportunities and attend workshops from visionaries in the field, including a series of demos, playgrounds, interactive walks, group project work, guided rapid projects, in-depth workshops and more!

This program is built around these CCL themes:

  • Interactive presentations
  • Visual storytelling
  • Creative coding
  • Audio production
  • Design thinking

As workshops are announced, build your own attendee sequence and stick to learning within a certain theme, or branch out and get a taste of all five skill areas. Whether you’re starting the event with a blank canvas or coming to build your repertoire of creative media skills, this event in the vibrant environment of New Orleans is one you don’t want to miss.

7:30-8:30 a.m.: Registration and a walk through the creative process
After you pick up your badge at registration, take a walk through the creative process! Uncover the different steps of design thinking and set the pace for your CCL experience. Stop at different points throughout this playground to hear more from practitioners about how they inspire their students to create throughout all aspects of their school day.

8:30-9:45 a.m.: Lightning Talks featuring ISTE Chief Learning Officer Joseph South.
Prepare for a fully stacked lineup of 10-minute lightning talks from practitioners and design experts on creativity activation, ISTE learning initiatives and more. These fast-paced presentations will motivate you to move forward with your creative endeavors and set the stage for the rest of your experience at this event.

10:15 a.m.-12 p.m.: Intro-rotations through the five CCL themes
Dive into five, 15-minute exercises with practitioners doing it right in their fields! Learn a basic skill in each of the five CCL themes and walk away with a technique you can start using right away. These rotations will narrow in on a skill related to the conference topics.

12-1 p.m.: Lunch: Enjoy some local flavor!

1–2:45 p.m.: Choose your own adventure and introductory workshops (1 of 2)
You and your fellow CCL attendees will be split in half and you’ll either stay in for workshops or head out on a few different New Orleans learning adventures!

Off-site adventures will include a city walk to the French Quarter’s legendary Frenchman Street and other fascinating city sites. Transportation will be available for adventures outside of walking distance and tours will be guided by CCL experts. Each adventure will focus on collecting visual and auditory artifacts to work with throughout the event.

As half of the CCL family is out on an adventure, the other half will be in two separate 55-minute introductory workshops. Learn about interactive presentations, visual storytelling, creative coding, audio production, design thinking and more!

2:45-3 p.m.: Break

3-4:45 p.m.: Choose your own adventure and introductory workshops (2 of 2)
Off-site adventures and workshop attendees switch places! The workshops offered earlier in the afternoon will be repeated so attendees don’t miss a beat.
