Bethy Leonardi, Ph.D., is an assistant research professor at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education. She’s also a co-founder and co-director of A Queer Endeavor (aqueerendeavor.org), an initiative that works in partnership with university-based teacher education programs, educators and school communities to improve the physical safety, social-emotional health, and life and learning opportunities of LGBTQ students, families and employees. Along with studying teacher learning as they enact practices that affirm gender, family and sexual diversity, in her research, Leonardi examines the relationship between educational policy and practice. In particular, she studies policies that focus on issues of equity, diversity and inclusion, and analyzes both the possibilities and challenges associated with the realities of school and district leadership.
