An accidental journey led me to live in Haiti in order to provide applicable professional development for educators (@goteachbelove). Learn about global education and how educators in under-resourced areas were empowered using active learning techniques.

Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this poster presentation is to inspire K12 educators to connect to classrooms around the world. This poster session will discuss the many obstacles the presenter overcame while living in Haiti. The base and inspiration for this poster presentation will come from the inspiring stories of Haitian educators who courageously implemented active learning techniques into their K12 classrooms in order to promote sustainability. This presentation will offer before and after stories of Haitian educators who implemented active learning techniques. The presenter holds a doctorate in the field of instructional design and technology and wrote her dissertation on active learning. The presenter also currently lives in Haiti working one on one with these educators.
