Using Google MyMaps to Explore Our World

Learn how to use Google MyMaps to share information with students, and how to have students create their own Google MyMap to share their own learning!

Purpose: To teach participants how to use Google MyMaps and provide ideas for how to incorporate the tool into their classrooms
Technology: Google MyMaps (participants will need access to GSuite); YouTube, Google Image Search
Intervention/Forward Planning: There is a HyperDoc community on Facebook/Twitter. I would like to develop a Google MyMaps community with the participants' help, similar to the Connected Classroom, Teach with Technology, and the like.
Objectives: Participants will be able to utilize Google MyMaps with students in a formative and summative manner in the learning environment
Evidence of learning: Participants will have ideas and be able to share those with their peers.
Welcome: (10 minutes) Have participants drop a pin where their school is on a shared Google MyMap
How-To: (30 minutes) During this time will teach how to use Google MyMaps
With Students: (20 minutes) Share how I and my district use Google MyMaps with students, ask for audience ideas of how they are thinking of using it.
Community of Learners: (10 minutes) Ask participants to join a Facebook group dedicated to utilizing Google MyMaps and other GSuite Tools to create authenticate assessments and activities for students.
