Empower young minds to take action through the use of accessible technology, and bring back the "ACT" in activism and break down "slacktivism." In this challenge-based learning session, discover how to take various movies and/or books and base a social justice program around them.

Audience: Curriculum/district specialists, Teachers, Teacher education/higher ed faculty
Skill level: Beginner

Participant accounts, software and other materials: Attendee's will be selecting the technology or software that is applicable to the programme they design, so no specific download is required.
This session can also run across all/any devices.

Purpose & objective

Objective:
Each participant will leave the session being able to adapt a historical fiction movie or novel and run a challenge-based learning programme. They will be able to adapt the material and use it as an anchor point for both technology integration and solving a social injustice in their context. Encouraging real activism in the real world – making a real difference.

Introduction and storytelling of how this programme has been implemented already and succeeded
40 Min:
Group project – design a Challenge-Based programme with a focus on a social injustice.
10 min:
Wrap-up and group reflection and sharing of ideas
