Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

Teachers have very limited time & resources. It's difficult to engage & motivate students in learning, especially online or blended. Difficult to personalize & differentiate lessons for agency, diversity & inclusion. Required to develop student's EQ, wellbeing and engage families & communities.

Similar to online games, the FamilyBookform dashboard contains all the instructions & explanations to scaffold & document Grade 6+ students in STEAM pedagogy & Universal Design Learning frameworks to personalize & differentiate 'how, what & why' students write.

STEAM writing / qualitative research projects enrich lessons, students have a personal connection to the process & content, ensuring their brains generate oxytocin, the chemical to develop love, trust, empathy & feeling secure.

Students share their content (audio files, text & images) in class for authentic story-sharing, discussions, collaborative editing & celebrations.

Books can be graded, included in portfolios & College applications, gifted & sold to families & community. Students develop self-worth and a sense of achievement in being a published author.

Enhance existing writing assignments, instead of a blank page for writing, students follow template prompts to speak into the page, interview others (any language, in-person & online) & collaborate, to create automatically formatted published books of value. Projects develop 21st century skills & SEL, funded by communities.

Outline

I present the FamilyBookform teacher training globally. Usually 30-60 minutes.
5-10 Introduction slides,
10-20 case study example from teachers globally &
10-20 a demo of the dashboard & how teachers & students use the templates, speech-to-text in any language, do interviews, invite contributors, publish online & download audio & PDF to print.

Sometimes I invite participants to contribute content to a 'Collaborative Class book' to demo how a teacher collates student's content into a class book and they can access the digital book online for 1 year or get the PDF, eg: https://familybookform.com/book/c8ab60ff-200f-4e67-b35d-895f1e4f8426/preview/

Teachers sign up free & can create 1 free demo book with their class.

Carey Furze, former English Teacher, published author & FamilyBookform Founder. I developed this 'inquiry' writing/book-creating technology as a resource for teachers to easily personalize & differentiate their lessons & for students to have 'communication for connection' with their families & communities. Using technology-as-a-tool to achieve transformational learning and documenting it all for celebration & proof-of-learning. Communication skills are the single biggest contributing factor to determine a person's health, wealth & success, so practicing communication will ensure young people have the best chance of happiness, whatever their future.
