Through this presentation participants will learn how to use and create Digital Literacy Stations that allow student choice and voice through multiple digital learning platforms. They will be provided with examples of implementation in first grade in each of literacy frameworks and
receive ideas as to how they may provide different options of student choice in application for elementary students.
Participants will learn how they can incorporate a variety of other platforms into Digital Literacy Stations that allow for students to have choice in how they practice application, show their understanding, and encourage student ownership. Learning is often more meaningful and fun when students have choice in the activities they do. Through research and experience, it is evident that when students have some control over their learning it can help students self-differentiate their learning and connect with their strengths and interests which can challenge them more appropriately and provide intrinsic motivation. During this presentation an elementary educator will share how in class literacy stations were turned digital to acquire the same engagement and valuable practice as in class.
The proposed presentation supports ISTE standards:
Designer: Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability.
5a: Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.
