Rand Hansen, Ed.D., is the acting dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Maryland Global Campus and president of the ISTE Board of Directors. He began his career as an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher and a district technology coordinator for a large urban school district in Maryland. He has also worked at Discovery Education, Johns Hopkins University and National Louis University.Rand Hansen, Ed.D., is the acting dean of the School of Arts and Science at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and president of the ISTE Board of Directors. As acting dean, he supports the planning and execution of all academic and administrative matters pertinent to the successful operation of the School of Arts and Science.
Kristina Ishmael is an educator, learner, advocate, and agent of change. She is the Deputy Director of the Office of Ed Tech leading the office in its vision and execution of priorities focused on improving teaching and learning.
Marlon Styles Jr. is the superintendent of the Middletown City School District in Middletown, Ohio. Under his leadership, Middletown City Schools earned the 2019 ISTE Distinguished District Award for ensuring equitable, accessible and appropriate technology use for all students. Styles also earned the Center for Digital Education Top 30 Digital Trailblazers Award and was recognized in 2020 as the K-12 Dive superintendent of the year. He’s passionate about closing the systemic equity gaps faced by many students in the U.S. and is devoted to transforming education and finding ways to integrate technology, while creating inclusive learning experiences for all students.
Nicole L. Thompson is a professor and vice dean of the division of teacher preparation in Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. Her work engages and empowers educators to think differently about how to best prepare teachers to innovatively educate P-12 students. With a focus on and commitment to equitable and inclusive practices, her work creates, pilots, and brings to scale new roles for educators and structures for systems that better serve students, families, and communities.
Dr. Jason Trumble is an Associate Professor of Education at the University of Central Arkansas where he teaches preservice and in-service teachers to effectively integrate technology, content, and pedagogy and think critically about their practice. He is also the program coordinator for the UCA education specialist degree in digital age teaching and learning. Dr. Trumble’s research focuses on the intersection of teaching and technology as well as STEM learning, assessment practices, and emerging technologies. Dr. Trumble is an ISTE Certified Educator. He is the President of the Arkansas Instructional Innovation Association, and he serves as the chair of the Teacher Education Council at SITE.
Cindy Vavasseur (Dr. V) is a Professor of Educational Technology and the Program Chair for Master of Educational Technology Leadership at Nicholls State University. Nicholls is an ISTE Certification Provider and the first University to gain this distinction on first submission. Dr. Vavasseur is also the 2021 ISTE Teacher Education Network Award winner for Excellence in Teacher Education.
