Heather McCutcheon, Herkimer Central School District
@hmccutcheon9 Heather McCutcheon is a visual and media arts educator at Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School in New York. In her 15 years at Herkimer Central School District, she has taught kindergarten to advance placement and dual-credit courses in high school. She is a credentialed Google Educator and Apple Teacher, and holds other certifications in specialized online instructional software. She has given numerous presentations at regional symposiums, state conferences and national webinars, sharing her passionate commitment to teaching excellence and creating rich experiences for students. McCutcheon has authored numerous articles related to technology, teaching and artmaking techniques that have appeared in numerous state and national publications. She holds several positions of leadership, including 4-H programs and administration, and local Mohawk Valley Educational Leadership, and she serves as the Youth Art Month co-chair for New York State, while representing her region of the New York State Art Teachers Association at their board of trustees. McCutcheon is also the art media technology secretary and an active member of the National Art Education Association. McCutcheon is the recipient of numerous grants from CNY Arts, local community and civic mural funding, and corporate funding from local businesses and organizations like Golden Artist Colors, Lowes and the Herkimer VFW chapter. After winning awards for New York State Region 3 Art Teacher and national awards for her work on New York State youth art month, McCutcheon was named a finalist for New York State Teacher of the year for 2022.
