Amy Stevens is currently in her 19th year as an Indiana elementary educator. Over the years, Amy and her teammates have taken districts from a single cart of devices to 1:1, as well as from paper packets to meaningful virtual instruction. She has led her students, staff and other IN educators through various learning ed-ventures. As an Apple Teacher, Apple Learning Coach and newly named Apple Distinguished Educator, her passion is to encourage students to grow as problem solvers and to encourage teachers to grow the idea of "best practices in the classroom."

en Stewart is currently teaching a brand new, project-based STEM class at Maxwell Intermediate School in Maxwell, Indiana. This is her 26th year of teaching. Prior to this year, she taught computer science, social studies, and language arts. Jen is a long-time Nearpod PioNear and a level three Nearpod Certified Educator. She is also an Apple Teacher, an Apple Digital Learning Coach and is Google Level 1 and 2 certified.. She has led many PD sessions around the Midwest on using technology to increase student engagement and learning.

Session description

By the end of this interactive session, educators will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to harness the power of AI in the classroom. They will leave with a roadmap for integrating AI into their teaching practices, which will enhance the learning outcomes of students in the 21st-century classroom.

Purpose & objective

This presentation will help educators become more familiar with the rapidly growing and quickly changing topic of using artificial intelligence in the classroom. Attendees will have the opportunity to have guided practice with various AI platforms and create ready to use materials for their classrooms.
Teachers will learn to not fear the unknown, but embrace AI, and discover all it has to offer.

AI platforms are quickly changing. Current plans are to introduce Twee, QuestionWell, Curipod, and Gamma.

Outline

Introduction/Hook: Write an email to a parent in 30 seconds. Show attendees how AI can help save time and stress while producing a quality product. (Audience Participation) 7 minutes

For each of the following AI platforms, we will take participant suggestions and show how to create and edit lessons. We will take time to discuss the pros/cons of each platform. (40 minutes)

Session Wrap-Up/Questions
We will use another AI platform and audience participation to create a session summary for participants. We will also use this time to answer questions or address concerns about the use of AI in the classroom.
