Amy helps teachers and librarians utilize digital media and makerspace tools effectively in their classrooms and school libraries. Through virtual and on-site professional development, she guides educators in using the tools within MackinVIA to increase accessibility, support student inquiry and independent reading, and enhance classroom instruction. Amy has a background in special education and STEAM instruction, and spent several years working in youth services for a public library system prior to joining the Mackin team.

Session description

In this session, we’ll explore ways to curate and share online resources that enrich learning and spark curiosity, so that kids and teens can safely explore their interests while building information literacy skills for the digital world.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session is to explore methods of curating digital resources and online media sources that support inquiry based learning. We will discuss best practices for incorporating information literacy instruction into library and classroom spaces.

Participants will understand how to use MackinVIA as a tool to curate text sets and online resources, along with other methods. Participants will have opportunities to share their experiences and ideas on this topic as well.
