Session description

Learn how to build a media literacy toolkit and explore practical strategies, activities and resources for teaching media literacy. This session empowers educators to teach media literacy effectively. Equip your students to critically evaluate media sources and navigate the digital world with confidence.

Purpose & objective

This session addresses the crucial need for media literacy in education. Most educators agree that media literacy is needed, however a majority of educators do not feel qualified or equipped to teach it effectively in their classes. This session is designed to empower educators to not only understand the complexities of media literacy but also give them resources to teach it well in their content areas.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of media literacy and its importance in the current digital age.
Participants will learn practical strategies, activities, and resources to teach media literacy.
Participants will be able discuss how to use these techniques effectively in their classrooms to enhance students' media literacy skills.

Success isn't just about knowing more, but being able to do more with what you know. The main goal for this session to be a success is that educators will walk out of the session with at least one lesson plan or activity that they will be able to do with their students the next day, if necessary.
