Eric Tao is passionate education technology specialist. He is the Founder and CEO of MegaMinds, a virtual learning platform where students learn through creative play and interactive activities in 3D social online spaces. He comes from an extensive background of corporate and start-up roles and has spent over 20 years leading teams in digital interactive production. In 2015, he joined Google as a production lead on an innovation team experimenting with new technologies, like VR, and their potential applications in the field including in education.

Session description

Discover how 3D learning platforms can enable students to build and navigate their own digital worlds, allowing them to showcase their understanding and mastery of curriculum concepts through project-based learning. Attendees will gain insights into designing lesson plans that integrate accessible immersive technology to cultivate essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. We will provide concrete examples of successful student projects across disciplines, offer strategies for overcoming common implementation challenges, and discuss methods for assessing student work in these innovative environments. Educators will leave equipped with actionable ideas for bringing accessible immersive technology into their classrooms, ready to inspire students to explore, create, and collaborate in ways that deeply engage with content and develop key skills.
