Pendergast Elementary School District
Dr. Jennifer Cruz currently serves as Superintendent of the Pendergast Elementary School District located in Phoenix, Arizona. Her experiences are varied and include serving as a teacher, principal, Federal Programs Manager, Director of Innovation, adjunct professor, consultant, Assistant Superintendent, and Chief Academic Officer. Serving students furthest from opportunity has always been an important focus of Jen’s career in education.

Director of Learning and Development
Jean-Marc is the Director of L&D for the CECCE, the largest French-Canadian School District outside of Quebec. His Master's focussed on his passion for EdTech and the development of 21st century skills, specifically critical and creative thinking. He has facilitated many projects for his District, including the migration to Google Apps for Education , the creation of digital citizenship plans, as well as the board's mission statement. He is currently working on AI initiatives to facilitate student intervention and transform the learning experience. Jean-Marc is always looking for a new challenge and loves chatting about change management.

Superintendant
Mrs. France Goulard is a superintendent of Education in the biggest French school board in Canada, outside the Québec province. She joined the team of the Conseil des écoles catholiques du centre-est (CECCE) in 2014 and she is in her fourth term as a superintendent with experience in diverse portfolios, and is team lead for the holistic approach to Education project. In addition to her certifications as director and supervising officer, she holds two bachelor's degrees, one in Science and one in Education, a graduate diploma in inclusion and special education, and a master's degree in school and applied psychology.

Chief Innovation Officer
Joseph South is a national educational technology leader focused on evidence-based learning transformation. He presently serves as the chief innovation officer at ISTE + ASCD. He formerly served as director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. He advised the Secretary of Education, developed national educational technology policy, formed public-private partnerships to assist state and local education leaders in transitioning to digital learning, helped school districts expand the use of openly licensed educational resources (OERs), and collaborated to nurture a robust ecosystem of edtech entrepreneurs and innovators.

Session description

In this current age of AI, schools have an immense opportunity to redesign learning in ways that weren’t previously possible and leverage technologies to optimize learning outcomes. Join this panel of early adopters as they share their strategies for implementing a thoughtful approach to redesigning teaching and learning. Led by ISTE's Chief Innovation Officer, Joseph South, panelists will discuss key considerations for effectively and responsibly integrating AI into schools.
