Session description
MakeCode is a "making and coding" programming language with a powerful simulator. Students use a block based language, JavaScript, or Python. In this hands on session, participants will collaborate and direct their own learning, making and coding projects with micro;bit, choosing from 75 project ideas aligned to professional areas.
Outline
5 min - Introductions of presenters and attendees. Share why you came today.
20 min - Participants each code a musical name badge (hands on, everyone makes something)
30 min - Participants create a data logging device (taking skills to next level)
10 min - In depth review of free 100+ micro:bit activities and lesson plans available. Participants review and explore accessibility features of Make code.
15 minutes - Participants develop a micro:bit lesson plan and project at their table group focusing on inclusivity and differentiation.
All remaining time: Q and A and peer to peer sharing in the room.
