Session description
Educators will delve into the concept of authentic learning and its potential to foster student agency. Through discussions and hands-on activities, participants will leave this session equipped with the knowledge and tools to design authentic learning activities that ignite student curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong passion for learning.
Outline
Introduction (15 min)
- Provide an example classroom for participants to examine and evaluate for authentic learning and student agnecy.
- Peer to peer interaction and discuss the classroom example
Whole Group Share Out (35 min)
- Participants share out their intial thoughts, list on the board componenets of authentic learning
- Share out defintion and introduce misconceptions of authentic learning
- Share strategies and authentic learning ideas
Small Group/ Table (20 min)
- Be provided with an example of a classroom and need to make changes to reflect authentic learning
Whole Class Share Out (20 min)
