Session description
Outline
- Participants will Understand the Components of Managing Complex Change : Exploring the components and identifying areas of strength & challenge aligned with implementing a new initiative. Participants will identify a recent new initiative and use the complex change components chart to determine areas of strength and challenge with the implementation of the new initiative. They will develop action steps. Peer-to-Peer activity that will include peer review and feedback of action steps.(15 minutes)
-Participants will explore Hope & Fears: A Change Readiness Perspective tool: Participants will engage in the Hopes and Fears activity from The Principal Influence, published by ASCD. The activity will be based on an identified new initiative they will be leading in their district or school. Participants will then design the Hopes and Fears activity for use in a staff meeting or PLC meeting. Partner activity (20 minutes)
-Participants will use the Stages of Concern tool from The Principal Influence, published by ASCD, to design questions aligned with their identified new initiative that will help them identify each staff member’s stage of concern about the initiative. They will work in small groups to discuss the type of ongoing support teachers operating in each stage of concern will ne in order to implement the new initiative with fidelity. (20 minutes)
-By the end of this session, participants will leave with actionable insights and a toolkit of resources to effectively lead and manage change within their districts and schools, ultimately enhancing student outcomes through successful implementation of new educational initiatives. They will be empowered with tools & strategies to help staff embrace change and to foster a culture of continuous improvement!
