Participants will be presented the opportunity to partner with AI to create a Lego project design in order to understand their students' experiences.
Participants will experiment with the AI Partner framework with the purpose of individualizing it for their specific learners.
Participants will understand the purpose of including AI as a viable team member.
Participants will identify appropriate questioning techniques to use with their AI partner.
Participants will be able to facilitate a simple project with AI with their students.
Outline has been modified to better fit the Poster framework. The following may be modified based on the interest and needs of the individuals in the audience.
1) Introduction and purpose
a) Participants will hear a brief history of the project
b) The purpose of the project was to allow students to experience working with AI firsthand in a meaningful and ethical way.
2) Framework
a) The parts of the framework will be broken down for participants, as well as student examples given for each step
i) Idea Creation vs. Curation, value of both
ii) Questioning for Design
iii) Questioning to Refine
iv) Questioning for Meaning
v) Iterations
vi) Final Consensus – Student outcomes will be shared
3) Practice – Participants will connect with their AI partner to practice and build with Lego bricks
a) Participants will be guided through each step of the process in a truncated version of the framework
4) Application
a) Participants will be guided through the process of facilitating their student’s journey
b) Participants will create a basic project for their students to try within this framework
5) Questions
The idea for this project and ultimately this presentation came from the ISTE 2023 conference itself. After hearing Richard Culatta speak about the importance of teaching our students to work with AI, it became apparent I needed to further explore this area of education. These are my top three resources at the time of this writing.
John Spencer has great resources for using AI:
