Emily Nestor has been in the education profession for 15 years. She began her journey as a classroom teacher and then transitioned into the role of Technology Integration Specialist. She currently serves as the Educational Technology Specialist for Talladega County Schools in East Central Alabama. Within this position, Mrs. Nestor provides specialized support to improve instruction, technology integration, and innovation across all 17 schools within her district. Her ultimate goal is to help educators transform their classrooms by making learning meaningful, differentiated, and engaging - all through the use of technology and innovative practices.

Dr. Brooke Morgan serves as Coordinator of Innovative Learning for Talladega County Schools. Dr. Morgan has over 26 years of experience with 12 of those years being in school administration and 9 years in district administration. She is a graduate of Auburn University and also has obtained post-secondary degrees from Jacksonville State and Samford University. She is the recipient of the Marbury Technology Innovation Administrator Award given by the Alabama State Department of Education and the Outstanding Curriculum Leader Award given by the Alabama Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Session description

Talladega County School's fully mobile zSpace Immersive Playground (ZIP) provides a unique learning environment for students to learn and explore. This session will cover the start-to-finish process of implementing ZIP into their school district and how this investment has been able to provide equitable opportunities for all students.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session is to provide participants with an example of how to provide students with opportunities to explore content, complete engineering design challenges, and engage in STEM through the lens of AR/VR.

Outline

This session will cover the start-to-finish process of implementing ZIP into our school district. We will begin with an overview of ZIP and then discuss the creation process including funding and the planning process. We will also share images, resources, and use cases to support how ZIP has been able to provide equitable opportunities for all students in Talladega County.
