Technology Teacher to 215+ elementary students (K - 6th) through Heights Christian Schools. While I have LOVED my technology executive positions held during 40+ years in NPO and healthcare organizations, I can honestly say that working with my students, teaching them about all aspects of technology, and sharing a small impact on their young lives has allowed me to experience TRUE JOY from my job. My curriculum includes digital citizenship, "all things Google Apps", keyboarding, programming, robotics, and more!

Session description

Using the start up of a restaurant business as a project, learn how Google Apps can be used to design, operate, and improve a business. Activities include: - Logo design (Google Slides) - Restaurant layout (Google Slides) - Menus, promotional materials, investor letters (Google Docs) - Customer surveys (Google Forms) - Profitability tracking (Google Sheets)

Purpose & objective

Using problem-based learning and a scenario of starting up a restaurant, this set of lessons will teach the Google Workplace apps and how they can seamlessly work together. Apps utilized include, Google Sheets, Forms, Slides, and Doc.

Students will also learn about D.R.I.P. (Data Rich, Information Poor) and a model for turning data into Informaiton into knowledge into wisdom.

Students will learn various steps of restaurant start-up including:
- Logo Design
- Business Letters to Solicit Investors and Franchisees
- Restaurant Floor Layout
- Menu Surveying, Design, and Selection
- Tracking of Expenses and Sales and Presentation of Results
