Erin Franks has been in education for 16 years. Five years as an elementary Special Education Teacher, Eight years as an elementary Media Specialist, and currently, she is an Instructional Technology Specialist for the Wayne County School System in Jesup, GA. Erin holds a Bachelor of Business Education and a Master's in Elementary Education and is currently working on her Specialist degree in Leadership. She also holds certifications in Leadership, ESOL, and Special Education.

LaRae Thornton has been in education for twenty-nine years. Twenty-two years as a high school Mathematics Teacher, two years as a college Mathematics teacher, six years as a Media Specialist, and currently, she is an Instructional Technology Specialist for the Wayne County School System in Jesup, GA. She has taught mathematics courses, including remedial, inclusion, regular education, and gifted. LaRae has been performing technology staff development for seventeen years. LaRae holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master's in Math Education, and her Education Specialist in Technology in Education, and certification for Gifted Education, Media Specialist, and Instructional Coaching Endorsement.

Session description

Join us to explore digital learning tools and adaptive technologies that enhance engagement and accessibility for English Language Learners (ELLs) and Students with Disabilities (SWDs). Discover how these tools empower students to thrive academically in an inclusive environment.

Purpose & objective

Purpose: This presentation addresses pressing educational challenges, offering a path forward. With a growing number of immigrants nationwide, including those in rural districts, it provides essential resources to support their success. Additionally, it levels the playing field for Students with Disabilities, ensuring they can thrive as successful learners in the future of education.

Objective: Participants will explore innovative ways to leverage technology to support English Language Learners (ELLs) and Students with Disabilities (SWDs) and walk away with technology resources that can be used to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
