Brad Martin is a 27 year veteran of education and has been an ed tech leader throughout his career. His professional roles have ranged from outdoor and alternative education to public school teacher to technologist yet the common thread has always been to inspire and instruct others in meeting their goals to success. He is currently teaching 6th grade English Language Arts at Lucile Erwin Middle School in Loveland, Colorado.

Session description

Participants will see a model of a highly effective blended learning classroom. Participants will be exposed to a philosophy of teaching with technology that can decrease teacher workload while maintaining high quality student outcomes. Areas showcased include - SAMR, classroom management, google classroom, infinite campus, project-learning, and teacher - student workflow.

Purpose & objective

Participants will -
*See and hear student - teacher interactions in a blended learning classroom to include use of Chromebooks to produce content and access learning as well as using hard-copy interactive notebooks, paper, pencil, arts/crafts.
*Reflect upon applications of SAMR, classroom device management, google classroom, infinite campus, project learning
*Consider a philosophy of teacher-student workflow that leverages automation to reduce teacher workload while maintaining high quality student performance.
*Receive permission to trust their teaching and their students learning in order to let go of some tasks that automation could replace in order to focus energy on what really matters to their students
Success Criteria-
Participants can demonstrate participation in a dialogue that begins with presentation and can continue into the next school year as they reflect upon content and attempt implementation at levels of personal comfort
