Instructional Technology Specialist
I have been an educator in the 5th most diverse district in Texas for the past 11 years. Currently, I’m in my second year of my district role as an Instructional Technology Specialist. I began my career as a third grade teacher and spent five years as a campus librarian. I’m an Apple Learning Coach and my biggest career success is leading my school in the distinction of Apple Distinguished School. I love leveraging technology to give all students voice and choice in sharing their learning.

Session description

Join us as we highlight built in accessibility features and native Apple apps for iPad that support listening, writing, speaking and reading. We will explore multimodal tools: drawing, recording, and annotating that help meet the needs of all students. In the end, we are promoting student efficacy, voice and choice.

Purpose & objective

After attending this session, attendees will have resources they can take back to their schools and use immediately. This session is specific to iPad so districts using iPads will benefit from attending. Participants will leave knowing how to give students access to speech to text, text to speech, and other accessibility features. After we address accessibility features, I will show three native Apple Apps that give students the ability to share their understanding of content and address the skills of speaking, listening, reading, & writing. I will give a brief overview of how to use each app and examples of how those tools apply to content. Attendees will be able to implement their new learning immediately.
