Session description

Create and publish a three-track audio album using free, online tools ... and a few AI-powered shortcuts. Learn a process you can replicate for student projects, or use these techniques to publish your own content, such as music, podcasts or interactive audiobooks. Beginners — and experts — welcome! (Musical ability not required.)

Purpose & objective

Purpose:

Participants in this session will create and publish a "mini audio album" using free, cloud-based tools and, in doing so, learn a process they can replicate with and for their students to foster creativity, engagement, digital literacy, and confidence.

Objectives:

1. Learn to Create Audio Content:
Use free, web-based tools to create audio content, including music tracks and podcasts.

2. AI Integration:
How can AI be optionally integrated into their audio creation process, enhancing efficiency and creativity?

3. Skill Tree:
Track and communicate progress throughout workshop using a shared Skill Tree document.

4. Student Projects:
Brainstorm student projects that involve audio content creation, encouraging student engagement and STEAM learning.

5. Ethical and Safe Practices:
Discuss safe, ethical, and legal use of digital tools (including AI), protecting intellectual rights and property.

6. Adapt to Educational Challenges:
Learn strategies to adapt to current challenges in education, including the need to work with and around AI technology, using this project as an example and template.

Technology Intervention:

The session introduces participants to a range of specific tools, including Google Slides, Soundtrap, Canva, and AI-powered platforms like SplashPro. These tools enable educators to create, enhance, and share audio content efficiently and creatively.

Models Employed:

The workshop employs a hands-on, experiential learning model, allowing participants to actively create audio content and integrate technology in real-time. Instructional activities include guided demonstrations, collaborative work, and individual practice with web-based and AI tools.

Evidence of Success:

Participants will leave the session with the practical skills and knowledge to create audio content using technology. Evidence of success will include completed audio projects and positive feedback from educators who have successfully implemented these skills in their classrooms, fostering student engagement and learning.
