Alexandria Bitonti. I am a K-12 Moonshot Learning Coach at California Area School District in Coal Center, PA. The Moonshot program is a no-grade levels, personalized learning cohort of students. She has been teaching in the district for 18 years.
Learning Coach
Heather Nicholson is a K-12 Learning Coach of California Area School District in Coal Center, PA. She led the start of the district’s first no-grades, no-grade levels, personalized learning cohort of students. She has a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction and has been teaching for 25 years. She is an ISTE Certified Educator.
Session description
Learning with out pressure. Learning about your own interests. Learning in your own way. This is the way our Moonshot program works. Students are the leaders of their own education.
Purpose & objective
Participants will hear success stories of students who are in control of their own learning experiences. The students in this program have better attendance and better state testing scores than those of their peers.
Outline
Students will engage with participants to explain what their learning looks like and how they feel about this program. They will share some of their projects they created throughout the year.
