Session description

Edtech coaching can transform learning when teachers and coaches build a collaborative relationship based on trust, respect, and mutual collaboration. In this session, we'll discuss our 6-step coaching cycle that helps teachers develop technology skills and integrate technology effectively into their classrooms.

Purpose & objective

To enhance the integration of technology in classrooms, our district created and implemented an edtech coaching program. This initiative aims to address teacher stress and burnout, promote the effective use of technology in line with ISTE standards, and provide tailored support to teachers for seamless lesson planning and execution. Through this approach, we aspire to empower teachers to meet students' needs more efficiently and foster proactive learning.

Staying Connected

We will foster peer-to-peer interactions by allowing attendees to discuss and compare their experiences and perspectives with our coaching model.
Poster sessions have attendees coming and going, thus forcing the content to be structured to accommodate brief interactions while providing in-depth information for those who wish to engage more deeply.

The interactive booth activities and Q&A sessions will be ongoing, ensuring that participants can join at any point and have their questions addressed.

Supporting research

In researching what an effective coaching program could be, we found the Dynamic Learning Project (DLP) that started an edtech coaching program in the 2017-2018 school year. Close to two thousand teachers participated in the program. The impact was a significant increase in the frequency of teacher and students use of technology. Teachers agreed that they feel less stressed about their classroom challenges as a result of DLP coaching. (Bakhshaei et al. 23) This result does not happen with professional development alone. The project showed that, with professional development alone, teachers are shown something and will only go and implement it if data will be collected.
