Purpose and Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the role of an educator as an instructional designer and foundations of instructional design principles
- Explore innovative edtech tools and strategies to enhance teaching and learning through instructional design
- Connect to new ideas and new educators to build a professional learning community by design
Specific strategies will include:
- Use of instructional design to transform the teaching and learning experience
- Opportunities to participate in interactive, hands-on learning mini-sessions
- Invitations to join educator Communities of Practice
- Guidance on creating high-quality instructional materials and learning experiences
Activities:
- Take a Lesson, Build a Lesson, Teach a Lesson
- online and immersive collaborative space for testing out instructional design principles and practices (available for in-person and online participants)
- hands-on learning stations with a variety of formats
- demonstrations, talks, mini-lessons, and research stations
Timing:
- 30-60 minute presentations/engagements
- rotations of speakers
Process:
- peer-to-peer interactions, device-based activities
- opportunities to join a host for a guided tour each hour or to explore in "self-paced mode"
