We are the Cumbres International School Mérida team. Our school is located in the south of Mexico, in the welcoming capital of the state of Yucatán, our city has a rich cultural heritage, with a total population of 995,129 inhabitants, 51.8% women and 48.2% men.
In our entity, illiteracy reaches 10.6% in women and 7.8% in men; the economic activity rate is 33% for women and 73% for men; Tertiary activities represent 73% of the state's GDP, which means that large groups of the population are dedicated to working in this sector (77% of women and 51% of men).
The data presented in the diagnosis show disadvantages, mainly, for women. That is why we decided to use technology by creating an interactive virtual museum with stories of successful women scientists and their contributions to society, with the purpose of inspiring other women and girls to continue studying and consider careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). As well as promoting interest in these areas and challenging gender stereotypes.
Through this project, the students acquired research skills, critical and reflective thinking, and the use of artificial intelligence, augmented reality and GPT chat tools for educational purposes, providing other students with an active and participatory learning experience.
