I've dedicated 20 years to the field of education, for the majority of my career, I taught Earth Science for 15 years, which allowed me to witness the evolving landscape of education firsthand. As the manager of the Ed Tech Department at Jeffco Public Schools, I am at the forefront of educational innovation. As both a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer, I've had the privilege of presenting internationally, gaining recognition for my work in showcasing innovative ways for teachers to empower students with greater voice and choice in their learning experiences while streamlining the often complex workflows of educators.

Session description

In our diverse classrooms, I'll teach you to efficiently customize lessons for all students using Google Classroom, templates, and top educational apps. You'll leave with the ability to differentiate instruction in under 5 minutes.

Purpose & objective

Purpose: To empower educators with practical strategies and tools for efficiently tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of individual students in diverse classrooms.

Objectives as Participant Outcomes:

Skill Development: Participants will acquire the skills to use their LMS effectively, create customizable templates, and integrate educational tools for lesson personalization.
Efficiency: Participants will learn to save valuable time in lesson planning, adapting to the pressing challenge of time constraints faced by teachers.
Inclusivity: Participants will understand how to create inclusive learning environments, addressing the challenge of catering to diverse student needs.
Technology Integration: Participants will gain confidence in using technology interventions, such as Google Classroom and specific educational tools, to enhance their teaching practices.
Adaptability: Participants will be able to adapt lessons quickly to changing educational landscapes, addressing the need for adaptability in an evolving field.

Educational Challenge: The educational challenge addressed is the need for teachers to provide personalized learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of students efficiently, especially in the face of time constraints.

Technology Intervention:
Participants will learn to leverage their LMS for organizing and distributing course materials, assignments, and communications.
Customizable Templates: Participants will explore how to create templates that can be adapted for different learning styles and abilities.
Educational Tools: Specific tools, such as interactive multimedia resources or assessment platforms, will be introduced and integrated into lessons for enhanced engagement and assessment.

Models Employed: The presentation employs a blended learning model, combining face-to-face instruction with technology-enhanced strategies. It also integrates elements of the flipped classroom model.

Demonstrations: Live demonstrations of using the tools mentioned, creating templates, and utilizing educational tools.
