"Amplifying Student Voices: Projects and Lessons Learned" invites educators, administrators, and advocates to delve into the critical role students play in shaping their own learning experiences.

Purpose & objective

Purpose:

The purpose of this presentation is to equip educators, administrators, and educational leaders with the knowledge and practical strategies to effectively amplify student voices in the learning process. By fostering an environment where students are actively engaged in shaping their own educational experiences, participants will learn how to enhance student motivation, engagement, and overall learning outcomes.

Objectives and Participant Outcomes:

By the end of this presentation, participants will:

Understand the Significance: Participants will comprehend the importance of amplifying student voices in education, including its positive impact on student motivation, engagement, and overall learning outcomes.

Educational or Infrastructure Challenge/Situation:

The educational challenge addressed is the need to enhance student engagement, motivation, and participation in the learning process. This challenge is exacerbated by the increasing reliance on digital technology for education, which presents both opportunities and obstacles to effective communication and collaboration.

Technology Intervention:

Various technology tools and platforms will be introduced, including widely known tools such as Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Teams, Flipgrid, and Padlet, along with emerging platforms designed specifically to amplify student voices, such as WeVideo, Adobe Express, and Soundtrap. These tools facilitate communication, feedback collection, and collaborative decision-making.

Models Employed:

Models employed in this presentation include the "Student Voice Framework," which outlines a structured approach to incorporating student input into curriculum design, classroom management, and school decision-making. The framework includes stages such as "Listen and Learn," "Collaborate and Create," and "Implement and Reflect."

Lesson Plans or Instructional Activities/Strategies Employed:

Instructional activities will include live demonstrations of technology tools, interactive discussions on real-world case studies, and collaborative brainstorming sessions where participants will create sample action plans for implementing student voice initiatives.

Evidence of Success:

Success will be demonstrated through:

Case Study: Real-world examples of Prince George's County Public Schools that have successfully amplified student voices and seen improvements in engagement and learning outcomes.

Participant Action Plans: The creation of personalized action plans by participants, indicating their commitment to implementing student voice initiatives within their educational contexts.

This presentation will provide participants with tangible skills, resources, and strategies to overcome educational challenges related to student engagement, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
