Nelann (pronounced nell-ahn) is a newly married and transported Denver resident. After serving in St. John the Baptist Parish Schools (approximately 40 miles west of New Orleans, LA), she continues to be passionate about languages and technology. For 15 years, Nelann taught high school Spanish, then transitioned into an English Language Coach role, and thrives when reaching learners of all ages and stages. As an aspiring polyglot, she is most passionate about building communities. She is the founder of @MIEE_Louisiana on Twitter, a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, a four-time MIE Fellow - representing the Gulf Coast Team, and now Mrs. Michael Bateman.

Session description

This interactive session will focus on the four proficiency domains for multilingual English language learners - speaking, listening, reading, and writing - showcasing several underutilized features. Attendees will learn how to leverage their own communities with this gamification tool that speaks the language of FUN and success for all ages and grades.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of my presentation is to share how this technology tool, Quizizz, can be used in and outside of the classroom to leverage learning for our growing population of multilingual English language learners. The presentation objective is to focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing (the four language proficiency domains) sharing underutilized features in Quizizz - the microphone, drag and drop, fill-ins, and more!
