Jessica Babbs enjoys supporting teachers as a Technology Integration Specialist for Academy District 20 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In her 25 years of teaching experience, she has served students as a Teacher Librarian, Digital Learning Coach, and elementary classroom teacher. Jessica holds master’s degrees in Information and Learning Technologies as well as elementary education. Her commitment to excellence has earned her recognition, including the Colorado Department of Education’s Highly Effective School Library Program award. Jessica has shared her expertise at conferences such as FETC (Future of Education Technology Conference), InnEdCO (Innovative Education Colorado), and CASE (Colorado Association of School Executives).

As a 30-year veteran Instructional Technology/STEM-CTE Teacher from Aurora Public Schools in Aurora, Colorado. Teaching CTE-STEM classes in computer science, robotics, video production, Design and Marketing. Teaching in a K-8 has gave me opportunity to create a CTE pathway based on work-based learning skills students. Engaging curious, creative learners, and problem solvers. I enjoy working with educators to build their passion and understanding of Technology Integration to engage students. I am an ISTE Certified Educator, and an InnEdCO Ambassador and have presented at ISTE since 2010 and Colorado’s ISTE Affiliate InnEdCO since 2007.

Brandon Petersen is an admitted geek, pop culture junkie, and fan of things learning. He currently teaches 5th Grade at Woodland Elementary in the Cherry Creek School District and is looking forward to starting up their STEM program there next year. He currently serves as Board President for InnEdCO, Innovation Education Colorado, which is a local non profit that exists to inspire and sustain communities of innovative learners. In his free time, he is a huge Disney and Theme Park enthusiast with a goal to visit every Disney Park in the world while riding as many roller coasters as he can.

Mark is Technology Coordinator and Mechatronics Teacher at Rangeview High School in Aurora, CO. Previously, he taught Scalable Game Design for twelve years at middle school, and was part of the senior training team at the SGD Institutes, conferences, and the lead trainer for staff in the Aurora Public Schools. The Scalable Game Design initiative made a huge difference in the way that he teaches computer science and the skills related to teaching students computational thinking. This method for getting students to process Computational Thinking is unique and innovative, making a significant and engaging impact via this program for the students.

Corrina Perrone Smith creates tutorials/curricula for teacher PD and student instruction. She is involved in design, usability testing, and managing the AgentCubes product. Her background is in AI and CS research. She was one of the first to connect educational software to the internet with WebQuest, for which she won a Gold Medal from the Mayor of Paris, France at WWW5 for “Best Paper/Best Application of the WWW to Education.” Her research includes pioneering meta-programming applications for Analogous Programming; Optimizing Large Databases; Artificial Intelligence for Command, Control, Simulation, and Diagnostics for spacecraft; and automatic LAN diagnostics and configuration repair.

Session description

The InnEdCO Pre-conference Workshop at ISTELive 24 is the place to be for all regional educators, leaders, and organization coordinators to meet, connect, collaborate, and learn about all the latest and greatest innovations in education. Like our annual conference, all attendees are in for an amazing day jam packed full of exploring new, modern approaches to learning through a variety of experiences that integrate student voice, choice, and creativity. At the forefront of the workshop will be unique opportunities that focus heavily on educational equity, student agency, and engagement opportunities that foster deeper relationships and student success in academia, career, and beyond. It’s time to bring your passion, ideas, and interests to the InnEdCO Pre-conference and meet up with other likeminded individuals that want to make an impact in education across the state of Colorado.
