Session description

With all the Edtech products out there, it can be difficult for education leaders to make informed choices. In this interactive session, participants will understand the signals of quality and usability in Edtech, follow a review process to evaluate tools, and will leave feeling empowered to make quality Edtech decisions.

Purpose & objective

This session directly relates to a new members-only webinar series called Empowering Learning with Technology

Challenge: Crowded edtech market with little clarity on what quality means in choosing products for schools.

Objectives:
Participants will effectively evaluate and select edtech tools that align with ISTE Seal Standards and Indicators around quality and usability.

Participants will gain practical knowledge and skills in utilizing the ISTE Seal indicators to assess edtech tools, fostering informed decision-making, and promote the integration of high-quality technology in educational settings.

Participants will feel confident evaluating Edtech products for usability, digital pedagogy and other signals of quality.

Skills Introduced/Practied: Participants will learn what questions to ask product vendors to help them assess quality and usability of edtech. They will also practice how to use the Teacher Ready Evaluation Tool to evaluate products that they may adopt in their schools/districts.

Activities/Strategies: The workshop will encourage participants to work together to use the Teacher Ready Tool and evaluate a product they are familiar with. There will be time to discuss the process and check in with learners using polls.

Evidence of Success: Participants will feel confident using the tool to evaluate products, or use the Seal to help inform what products to use/adopt. They will share the tool with others and collaborate to evaluate products.
