Laura Hollis has been Director of Technology at Saddle River Day School since 2012 where she is responsible for overseeing all tech-related purchases, campus initiatives and integration projects. At SRDS, she teaches classes in the IDEAS lab makerspace and video production studio, founded the TEDxYouth club, and leads Gorls Who Code. She enjoys collaborating with students and teachers who are interested in using various tech tools to enrich lessons and projects. She lives in Mahwah, NJ with her husband and three sons.

Session description

In our session, we'll delve into the practical implementation and outcomes of an AI-enhanced educational platform at Saddle River Day School, designed to streamline the creation and grading of courses, lessons, and assignments. This platform empowers teachers by automating routine tasks and provides personalized support to students through AI-driven interactions. We will explore how the AI assists in designing diverse learning materials tailored to different student needs, automates grading for instant feedback, and interacts with students to guide them towards discovering answers independently. Attendees will gain insights into the platform's architecture, its impact on teacher efficiency and student engagement, and the observed benefits in learning outcomes. The session will also cover the challenges faced during implementation and the strategies employed to address them. Educators, administrators, and tech developers can expect to leave with a clear understanding of applying AI technology to enhance educational practices and student learning experiences.

The platform was designed for the school by the ProSchool.ai company. Our teachers and administrators spent hundreds of hours offering initial design parameters, feedback, and lists of necessary improvements.
