Vriti Saraf is co-founder and CEO of Ed3 DAO, a non-profit that helps educators learn about emerging technology, with a focus on AI & Web3. She is also the founder of k20 Educators, a metaverse for learning design studio and consultancy, which also incubated Ed3 DAO. Vriti started her career as a Teach for America teacher in Brooklyn, NY. She has served as a professor, a dean, & a director in public, private, & charter schools both locally & internationally across k12 & higher education. She currently serves in advisory roles at XPrize, Full Steam Forward, and Mi Primer Bitcoin.

Session description

Many are using AI to replace their tasks and automate efficiency. Although a good place to start, the potential of AI is so much more. AI can help humans grow their competencies in ways not previously possible. Join us to learn how to enhance your abilities as an education professional.

Purpose & objective

Many educators and leaders are using AI to replace their tasks and automate efficiency. This is a good place to start but the potential of AI is so much more. AI can help humans grow their competencies and skills. AI can be used as a cognitive thought partner for complex decision making. Join us to learn how you can leverage AI to be the cognitive friend you’ve always wanted. Use this practice to enhance your abilities as an education leader, make difficult decisions, and grow as a professional.

Participants will:
-identify what AI does well compared to humans and vice versa
-ideate their own competency growth plan
-understand how AI can be a cognitive thought partner
-use this practice to enhance their abilities as a professional
-differentiate between low level and high level AI tasks and use cases

Outline

Content & Activities:
-Foundations: What is AI, ML, Deep Learning?
-AI compared to Bloom's Taxonomy - what it can and cannot do well
-AI's abilities as a thinker and cognitive partner
-High level AI tasks and low level AI tasks
-Transforming practice using AI
-Competency growth plans

Time: Most of the session will be spent on AI's abilities and participants identifying how to identify their own competencies, and then creating a cognitive friend plan

Process: Throughout the presentation, we'll have turn and talks, polls, and activities where they'll be able to take home specific examples to try.
