Session description
Hear how North Carolina is implementing an honors-level policy throughout the state. Participants will leave with an understanding of how to differentiate for advanced learners, creating a greater impact on student learning and curriculum design. Resources will be shared to help develop and evaluate new and current courses.
Outline
Introduction to the topic of honors level coursework and the policy in NC (10 min) Time for reflection of current practices
Explanation of the advanced learning indicators (15 min) Turn and Talks between each indicator
Instructional Strategies for the advanced learning indicators (25 min) hands-on activities, gallery walks, sorting, etc. Participants will experience the strategies for planning and implementing them.
Review of resources (10 min) digital exploration of resources with turn and talks and sharing out
