Session description

How do you coach teacher leaders in both the technical skills of leading teams and the deeper stuff - shaping mindset and dispositions? Learn a 6 step asset-based process for coaching teacher leaders. Watch video from real coaching sessions and engage in thought-provoking prompts that will influence your coaching conversations.

Outline

(10m) Elisa opens with a relatable humorous sketch written by a coach and her teacher leader, then gives a warm introduction and an overview of what you will leave the session with.

(10m) Elisa does a quick overview of the 6-step, asset-based process for coaching teacher leaders and reviews the PDF Self-Assessment/Coaching tool she uses to guide the process. You will have a chance to briefly reflect on your own leadership before seeing the tool applied to a real coaching session.

(40m)

  • Elisa illustrates the 6-step coaching process with a series of short video clips from a coaching mini-cycle with a teacher leader.

  • You'll see the coach and teacher leader lift-up strengths, zoom into one focus area for her growth, and plan actionable steps.

  • You'll not only hear how the teacher leader tried a new way to facilitate her meeting, but also how her leadership mindset and disposition shifted in such a short time.

  • Between video clips, Elisa will highlight the step in the coaching process with some tips and give you a chance to dialogue with a partner about the moves you saw the coach make and what take-aways you have for your own coaching conversations with teacher leaders in your setting.
