Volunteers are our secret sauce!

ISTE greatly values and appreciates the many volunteers that make the conference a huge success! We (literally) couldn’t do it without you.

If you’re pondering jumping in to help, here’s what you need to know:

  • Connections abound. Volunteering makes you part of a special community that drives the conference’s success.
  • Skill-building happens. Along the way, you’ll learn a new skill or two that you can bring back to your organization or use to enhance your resume.
  • Find your BFF. We see it every year. Volunteers make connections to other educators that reach well beyond their shifts and into their lives beyond the ISTE conference.
  • Learning is a bonus. Volunteers help monitor virtual sessions, so you’ll get to learn while you assist with the event.

Getting on board is easy! And newbies are welcome; you don’t have to be a seasoned veteran to help out. You’re eligible if:

  • You’re registered. Signing up for ISTELive 21 is step one!
  • You’re flexible. If you can flex your schedule and be available at various times during conference, you’re good to go!
  • You’re reliable. Report for duty on time and ready to go!
  • You’re perky. We’re looking for folks with a positive, helpful, friendly disposition.

Virtual volunteer opportunity

Our volunteers are even more important in the virtual world! All virtual volunteers are part of our Volunteer Champion program, and agree to volunteer for six hours during the conference in exchange for a registration refund. During shifts, Champions act as a first line of support for presenters and attendees by moderating meeting rooms. A limited number of positions are available, so be sure to apply to join the Champion team by indicating your interest on your registration form and then filling out the Volunteer Champion Application. The team will be announced in mid-March.

“As a virtual volunteer, I was able to support presenters as they set up their stations and prepared for their presentations. Prior to the actual conference I was fully trained in the platform and was able to ask questions about the process. It was such a great experience and I’d do it again if offered the opportunity.” – Hue-An Wren, Teacher on Special Assignment, California
