Amanda is a NISE STEM-certified Future Ready Librarian who also holds LEGO Education Teacher Ambassador status, Ozobot Certified Educator status, and, most recently, became an Amazon Future Engineer Teacher Ambassador. She believes the library is a place where all students are welcome to explore their interests and creativity. #MyLibraryIsNotQuiet! Special interests include how STEM and literacy intersect and support one another. This is her 14th year as a librarian and 20th year in education.

Session description

STEM-ulating Minds embraces the idea that STEM components and literacy naturally intersect and support one another. Utilizing knowledge from a nationally STEM-certified librarian, attendees will learn about how to apply STEM concepts, immediately and long-term, to library classes and curriculum, regardless of grade level and time limits.

Purpose & objective

Learning Objective #1:
Garner ideas on how to incorporate STEM in their library programming, regardless of library schedule and resources available; no-tech, low-tech, and high-tech examples given.
Learning Objective #2:
Create and implement an action plan to take their library curriculum to the next level using the Engineering Design Process as a guide.
