Mrs. Kara Bailey is the Supervisor of Secondary English and Reading and Principal of the Cyber Program in the West Chester Area School District. Kara is a former teacher in the West Chester Area School District and in Randolph Township Schools in New Jersey. Kara has experience in middle school and high school English education and has a masters in Education in instructional leadership. With experience as brick and mortar and cyber educator and administrator, Kara is passionate about English, the Science of Reading, and literacy across the content areas.

Mary Beth Clifton is an Instructional Technology Coordinator for the West Chester Area School District. Mary Beth has been in education for 34 years and taught at every level, from preschool to graduate school. As an ITC for the last 17 years, she has kept pace with trends in technology, specifically best practices with integration into the classroom. Most recently, she worked with a team to establish a robust cyber program for the district. Mary Beth is an ISTE Certified Educator, PowerSchool Champion, and Common Sense Certified Educator that loves to share her love for lifelong learning with others.

Explore how a year-long transformation based on a needs assessment revolutionized WCASD's fitness curriculum. We'll share strategies for infusing performance-based tasks into cyber health and PE, utilizing robust rubrics. This new approach promotes interactive learning experiences, empowering students like never before!

Purpose & objective

Purpose:
To showcase the transformative journey of WCASD's fitness curriculum, emphasizing the integration of performance-based tasks in cyber health and PE to enhance interactive learning experiences and student empowerment.

Objectives:

1. Understand the Catalyst for Change: Attendees will grasp the motivations and reasons behind WCASD's decision to revolutionize its fitness curriculum based on a comprehensive needs assessment.

2. Discover the Power of Performance-based Tasks: By the end of the presentation, participants will have a clear understanding of how performance-based tasks can be seamlessly integrated into cyber health and PE curricula to drive better learning outcomes.
