Session description
Purpose & objective
Educators will learn how to use Canva, Google Drawings, and Book Creator, focused specifically on the creative tools and features that allow for expression.
Educators will create vocabulary focused activities and templates within these programs to support higher order thinking.
Outline
1) Review the importance of vocabulary instruction and its impact on learning (presenter guided instruction with peer interaction and feedback)-(5 min)
2) Review higher order thinking strategies and subsequently have teachers brainstorm vocabulary focused questions/activities that promote higher order thinking through turn and talk collaboration-(10 min)
3) Review how to navigate within the three platforms of Canva, Google Drawings, and Book Creator, showing examples and tools that support vocabulary focused creative projects (demonstration followed by guided practice on their device)-(20 min)
4) Provide time for teacher to build vocabulary focused activity templates within the digital program of their choice through independent practice on their device-(10 min)
