Amy supports PK-12 instructional technology and innovation initiatives as the Digital Learning Specialist for the Parkway School District in St. Louis, MO. Through her work, Amy supports teachers and district leaders in all areas of tech integration including Google for Edu, virtual learning, and mobile learning. She has previously served the district as an elementary teacher, a technology integration specialist, and an elementary instructional coach. Amy has presented at national, regional, and local conferences on a variety of digital learning topics. She is a Google Certified Trainer, an ISTE Certified Educator and serves on the board of the Educational Technology Association of St. Louis.

Session description

Parkway School District offers an innovative approach to asynchronous virtual courses as a choice program. Designed to offer students flexible learning options, this initiative has reshaped our educational landscape. Discover the key essential elements that support successful teaching and learning in online spaces for virtual and blended learning experiences.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session is to share how providing choice and flexible learning experiences empowers teachers and students to explore authentic alternatives to a face-to-face classroom.

In this session, participants will:
-Delve into the use of technology and student learning strategies in digital platforms, virtual environments
-Explore instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning
-Examine personalized learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs
-Take away resources that will support their own journey with online learning, virtual or blended.
